Gary Hardwick, D. Min.
(405) 321-0303
Dr. Hardwick strives to offer an accepting and supportive environment for others so they can feel safe in exploring their issues and concerns. He shapes his approach to therapy for the specific needs of his clients, using a variety of evidence-based treatments. He uses mindfulness-based techniques that include Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. These approaches are designed to develop a different relationship with the problem that gives you more psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility means contacting the present moment fully as a conscious human being, and based on what the situation affords, changing or persisting in behavior in the service of chosen values.
Dr. Hardwick uses these approaches to address a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress.
Dr. Hardwick has extensive experience working with couples who are struggling with arguing and conflict, communication, sexual relationship, and a loss of intimacy and connection. Using an approach developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, who have studied and treated couples for over 30 years, he provides a thorough assessment of the couple relationship that identifies strengths and specific problems in the relationship. He develops a treatment plan that not only addresses these specific concerns but offers ways to deepen the fondness, the admiration, and the trust that can revitalize the relationship.
Dr. Hardwick has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oklahoma since 2003. Prior to that, he was a Licensed Professional Counselor and an LPC Supervisor in the state of Texas for 11 years. He has a degree in Counseling and Psychotherapy.
